BPL: Khulna all out for 44, slumps to 9 wicket loss against

Khulna Titans have suffered a heavy defeat of 9 wickets against table topper Rangpur Riders in the fifth match of the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

The Southern outfit lost the toss at the Sher-e-Bangla national stadium in Mirpur and were made to bat against a fiery Rangpur bowling display on Thursday evening.

Rangpur’s Pakistani recruit Shahid Afridi picked up 4 for 12 to help Rangpur Riders skittle Khulna Titans for the joint third-lowest score in T20s, 44.

Shuvagata Hom was the top scorer for the Titans with only 12 runs off 8 balls.

Four of the Khulna batsmen were out for duck.

Arafat Sunny picked up 3 wickets from his 2.4 overs with 2 maidens giving away 0 runs.

In reply, Rangpur Riders cruised to a 9 wicket victory with the most minimum of efforts.

Junaid Khan picked up the only wicket of Mohammad Shahzad for the Titans.

Mohammad Mithun was the top scorer for the Riders with 15, Soumya Sarkar scored 13.

Shahid Afridi was named the man of the match for his stellar bowling performance.

Rangpur currently tops the BPL table with 4 points from 2 matches whereas Khulna sit at number 4 with 2 points from 2 matches as they won their first match against the Rajshahi Kings.

Khulna Titans will face Chittagong Vikings in both the teams’ third match of the campaign on Saturday afternoon.

In the day’s second match, Rangpur will lock horns with Dhaka Dynamites which promises to be a thriller.
